One of the best by far anti aging tactics is exercising. The benefits for your appearance, mental and physical well being all are improved with regular exercise. And one of the best forms of exercise is walking.
But how far should you walk or long should you walk? What improvements should I be seeing after I have started a walking regime?
Well if you have not been active lately you probably should start by consulting your doctor to just get a baseline physical check up.
Once you start, you should measure your progress. Positive feedback is one of the best ways to keep you motivated and by having an easy way to keep track makes the whole process even more enjoyable.
My wife Virginia and I take a five mile walk three days a week. But now with our pocket pedometers we can also keep track of all the other walking we do throughout the course of each day in addition to our five mile walks.
We both have a Omron HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer that we carry around all day long. Since I keep mine on my belt, I tend to forget I even have it until I get home at night and take off my clothes.
At the end of the week I upload my information on my PC and get a full seven day read out of data. It resets itself at midnight automatically so it’s ready to go every morning.
Our goal this year is to be able to participate in the three day Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Walk which is about three days of twenty mile walks. We have a long ways to go to build up to that type of endurance, but having a device that measures your progress is a great help.
So if you are walking why not keep track of all your steps all day long and see how your vital statistics are changing as a result of your exercise routine. Make it easy to keep track by just putting the Omron HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer on in the morning and up load the data to your PC at the end of the week and look at all the data collected. It’s really easy and a great feedback mechanism for staying motivated.
